Can Herbs Improve Your Pet’s Behaviour?

Posted in Uncategorized by admin Monday June 30, 2008 at about 8:55 pm

The use of herbs and other alternative remedies for the treatment of a wide range of human illnesses has rapidly gained popularity over the past two decades. Herbal remedies are especially popular among patients with chronic diseases such as cancer, arthritis, and gastrointestinal ailments. Also, some herbal treatments appear to be beneficial for treatment of psychiatric symptoms such as depression, anxiety and insomnia. It is logical to think that if an herb or botanical preparation can help a human with a psychiatric disorder, then it might also help a pet with a behavioral problem.

Before going into specifics on what is known about improving animal behavior problems with natural herbal remedies, a word of caution is in order. Clearly, the increasing popularity of alternative remedies is partially due to the fact that some of these products work well. Unfortunately, much of the increased use of alternative therapies is due to hype and propaganda from companies that manufacture and sell such treatments. To separate fact from fiction, it is important to rely on information from objective, reliable sources like the scientific and medical literature rather than from dietary supplement websites and promotional pamphlets.

There seems to be an increasing number of false claims for products labeled “homoeopathic,” which really just means that the “active ingredient” is so dilute as to be almost undetectable. There is little or no scientific evidence that these dilute formulations work. Therefore, the comments that follow are limited to herbs known to have beneficial effects when used in doses that are meaningful.

As always, it is a good idea to consult your veterinarian before beginning a new course of treatment for your pet. Following are some indications for use of herbal remedies:
• Barking. Perhaps the best-known herbal remedy for dogs is the use of a lemon or citronella scented aerosol in a collar to control nuisance barking. Although commercial collars of this design are expensive, there is substantial evidence that this can be an effective behavior-modification tool for many dogs.
• Anxiety. Valerian has been tested in humans with some success in the treatment of anxiety and sleeplessness. This herb is available in most health-food stores and in many groceries and pharmacies. Valerian can be useful to control a variety of anxiety-related or fear-induced problems such as restless during car travel, fear of thunder, and anxiety while left alone.
• Forgetfulness & Senility. Another example of an herb that might have a useful role in pet health is Ginkgo. This herb is being tested for the improvement of memory and concentration in people with Alzheimer’s disease. Ginkgo may be helpful in dogs with Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome or in older cats with random and excessive vocalization.
• Others. Although most reports of the use of herbs are related to human conditions, there are increasing numbers of practitioners interested in their veterinary applications. For example, small studies are looking at the use of Chamomile to treat irritability in dogs and cats, and Cantharis and Staphisagria to reduce cat spraying.

But, Watch Out! Of course it is important to be cautious in the use of any new treatment, and this caution is especially important in the use of herbs, which are not always reliably packaged and labeled. Just because something is natural does not mean it is safe. Think of the natural poison, arsenic, for example. A very common herb, St. John’s wort, can cause sensitivity to sunburn in both people and animals. Several dogs have died from being given excessive doses of an over-the-counter dietary supplement called 5HT (5 hydroxytryptophan – sometimes known as Griffonia seed extract). So, be skeptical of unproven claims, and gather reliable information.

How Soon Before We See Sleek And Weightless Gaming Notebooks

Posted in Uncategorized by admin Saturday June 28, 2008 at about 12:52 pm

The need for notebooks is sky high as we speak. But be warned if you want the new tech than you need to come up with some patience as there could be part shortages. It seems like once there are backlogs those will only increment because demand for laptops is not dipping at all. The technology intervals are so short too which makes it all the more of an up hill struggle.

Gaming notebooks are one of the areas that have seen an increase. You can actually get a good spec for your money these days because even the enthusiast technology is slipping into the mass market area very quickly. With the introduction of dual core processors, notebooks are up to the the task of gaming. I also think that a couple gaming notebooks look really funky, with some slick, aggressive features. Sure nobody is disagreeing that there is a power difference between notebook computers and desktop pcs in terms of gaming but there should always be one right? I wouldn’t give it too long before we see ultra portable gaming notebooks on the streets.

Although the market share is ruled by companies selling via retail channels I think the direct model and custom built notebooks will forever be around. With custom built notebooks you usually get to uncover what make of parts is going into the laptop. In my mind being able to configure the processor, memory and hard drive is ideally suited the more extreme users out there. If you will be doing greater amounts of intensive activities on your laptop then those prebuilt units will probably not provide all the flexibililty and speed you require. Custom notebooks give a solution to this. You can hunt down of manufacturers who sell direct so there is a lot of choice as well. Yet a further great point.

It’s intriguing to see new notebooks being released every 12 months. Small internet notebooks are the latest product to get mass market popularity. Its insane how technology designed for the developing countries have become a trend in the developed nations. If someone puts together a laptop that has a large screen yet also weightless at an affordable market price I think it could be a huge success. Companies must be laboring on an answer to this as we speak. Companies are encasing greater performance into notebooks and it looks as if gaming notebooks will get sleeker and lightweight. Manufacturers are always searching to differentiate themselves in this saturated market so that keeps things developing.

For the price these are the best gaming laptops.

Gumball Vending Machines – A Great Way To Break Into The Vending Business

Posted in Uncategorized by admin Thursday June 26, 2008 at about 9:48 pm

Gumball vending machines are the best known of all vending machines. They are the basis of every vending business because most people get started in this business with one or more gumball machines. This is because they are the cheapest of the machines and they do generate a lot of profit. You can sell giant bubblegum, candy and fun prizes from gumball vending machines.

Even as more and more vending machines come on the market, the gumball vending machines have remained. They come in a wide variety of styles and designs, such as the classic globe shaped gumball machine or the spiral shaped models. When you contact a business, gumball machine owners find that these are the easiest machines to place. Business owners know that both children and adults like to use them and they can even spur along the sales by offering prizes for a certain colored gumball. This makes using them more fun. Gumball machines usually take a quarter so the product is not costly for the customer.

You can have single gumball vending machines or models with two or three machines in one. Experts on the vending machine business will tell you that you should not have more than three different products or three machines selling gumballs and candy in one location. The small number of choices helps to increase the sales of gumballs for your business. Gumball machines are also very colourful which makes them very noticeable, along with the colourful gumballs inside.

Along with selling gumballs, you can sell many products for fun. Gumball machines can be used to sell bouncy balls, toy capsules or even small souvenir mugs. As long as the products can fit through the dispenser in the gumball vending machines you can use them in the machines. You will also have to adjust the price to reflect the product because some products are more expensive than others. You do have to price the products to sell, but also be able to make a profit in your business. Gumball machines are so popular because they are the most profitable of all vending machines.

The spiral gumball vending machines seem to work best in a vending machine business. This is because these machines are very attractive to children, who love to watch the gumball spin around the spiral in the machine. Parents don’t mind spending the quarter for the gumball and quite often they will end up spending more than one in the fun gumball machines. Business owners don’t mind having them on their premises either because they get a commission based on the amount of money that comes out of each machine. If you are thinking of getting started in the vending machine business, you will enjoy great success with gumball vending machines.

Winclear :How Check Internet History On Mac

Does it all mean that you risk less when going for paid solutions? No. What it means is that before making a choice on what PC security software to choose depending on your particular needs you should consult with someone with sufficient experience, or read some reviews at least. Antispyware does even greater job by identifying a whole lot of potential threats and cleaning the infections.

Banning children from computers or allowing using it only when parents are supervising the process is not a good solution. Besides producing a negative impact on relations with you child, this also makes it harder for your offspring to compete with other children, as the Internet these days gives certain social and academic advantages. However, the Internet should be filtered, there’s absolutely no doubt. So what is the solution? Data loggers, key loggers are just a few programs which harvest info from your computer. Winclear is the only program created specially to auto remove such spywares. Most anti-virus software does not adequately check for keyloggers and Spyware. That is why every computer owner needs winclear.

Protect With Winclear :Erase Internet History
Internet predators gravitate towards children who are online for lengthy periods of time each day, and usually at the same time of day. Predators seek children whose schedules mesh with their own, children who are online most days during a consistent time frame. Think about it… predators have little chance to groom a child for future exploitation if that child is rarely online or is online at various times of the day. Children who do not have a lot of activities outside of school tend to be online longer and at the same times of day compared to those children who have lots of activities. These children are more often targeted by internet predators. Winclear is the only software which is capable of removing keylogger programs. Because they can be installed without your knowledge cookies can be installed by a third party from a website that is less than desirable. Winclear has been the industry leader in fighting keyloggers for the last 8 years.

Winclear:
Most computers are not protected and are at risk everyday. That is the reason why you need Winclear installed onto your computer. There are tens if not hundreds anti-spyware applications which destroy your PC security once you double-click on an executable file. Protect your computer security by using Winclear! Computer Related Habits From Small Business Owner – Be Prepared, Avoid Despair

Posted in Uncategorized by admin Monday June 23, 2008 at about 5:35 am

Aside from the fear of losing a spreadsheet or research project prepared for a client, what prompted me to write this article was the realization that it takes nothing short of persistent follow up to stay ahead of computer threats which could ruin my business. I also accepted the fact that keeping my computer free of viruses and spam is paramount to ensuring my computer is not going to harm others.

If you don’t have a technical assistance person or call desk to support you and users of the computers that are part of your business, it is time to establish a routine that prepares you for potential losses or lapses.

If you are convinced protecting your computer is important, but still haven’t done anything about it, then I urge you to hire or barter with someone who is technically competent to teach you, or set up a technical support program.

I don’t offer these services, but I can help you evaluate your needs and the type of provider that would work best for you. Also, look in the phone book under the heading “Computer-Services & Repair” for providers in your area. If worse comes to worst, there’s a heading for “Computer-Data Recovery” services.

Also, I hate to tell you, but don’t expect much sympathy these days from people about losing all your emails, files and pictures. Almost everyone has their own “been there, done that” tale tell. It might even be worse than yours.

If you are not already doing so, my advice as a business owner is to do the following on a weekly or at least monthly basis. Please note I am keeping terminology very broad in order to reach a wide range of users. Whether you use a Mac or PC here’s what you should do:

- Monitor updates of the programs you rely upon. The periodic release of downloadable updates to operating programs and software applications is an advisable layer of protection. Enable the automatic notification feature so you are prompted when downloads are available.

- Run virus scans regularly. Say it again and commit to setting a weekly schedule. Always review the results before proceeding. Never ignore the warning of a known threat.

- Back up regularly. The price of blank, recordable media is no longer prohibitive. If you have lots of data, get a “zip drive” device that stores data on cartridges that hold more than a CD or disk. The initial set up can be complicated, and it’s no disgrace to ask for help from a technically inclined friend or contractor.

- In a somewhat logical manner, file emails for future reference. Set up folders by the names of people you work with or by active projects. Set a routine of emptying your inbox on a regular basis.

- Fine tune file management settings so the auto-archive and auto-delete functions behave as you wish. Otherwise, you might not know where all your emails go after a feature kicks in. The Outlook rules feature lets you customize even further.

Another good habit is keeping the boxes and media for software applications both together and accessible to your computer. Resist the temptation to tuck those oversized boxes away. Try to keep at least the operating system applications at close hand.

As long as you are using the application, do not get rid of either the box or media needed to install it. Over time, you (or the person who works on your computer) will need these. Product registration, rebates, upgrades and product support require the key numbers and/or inserting the media.

Indeed, all of these somewhat tedious tasks take away from my time delivering billable work or promoting my business. But the thing is, when the routines are complete and back ups stowed, I am less anxious about computer infiltration or the possibility of a system failure. That kind of peace of mind is worth the investment.

Obesity and Weight Loss Surgery

Posted in Uncategorized by admin Monday June 23, 2008 at about 4:21 am

Let’s face facts; obesity is ripe today in America and rising on a global scale in western civilisation – where are we going wrong. Being a health and fitness nut I would simply recommend eating a balanced diet and exercise often, but you’ve heard all that before, and it doesn’t work for you, right? That’s ok, losing weight is tough, especially for those who some doctors would class as morbidly obese, which are those people who weight 50-100% their ideal body weight.

For these people – and you may be one of them, which is why you found your way to one of my many articles on weight loss surgery, diet simply isn’t a viable solution, and some seek a more permanent solution like weight loss surgery.

The most popular weight loss surgery as we all know is the gastric bypass. The stomach stapling, the miracle cure, the ‘life’s never been so good’ surgery as some marketing wizards would have you believe – and for some it certainly is.

Weight loss surgery can bring quick and long lasting results of permanent weight loss, though I certainly don’t recommend it as a convenient solution to obesity, but those morbidly obese with their immediate health in danger I would certainly recommend researching the area of weight loss surgery to find out more.

My website is one such place where you can find a large area dedicated to gastric bypass surgery, and there are many others around the Internet.

Release Your Addiction to Past Life

Posted in Uncategorized by admin Saturday June 21, 2008 at about 6:35 pm

Does the idea of working from home keep you up at nights? Does it drive you crazy that you are forced to go into a job you hate day after day for too few dollars to get excited about? You’re not alone. A whole new idea about what work means is emerging in people’s minds. The question is how are you going to make it happen for yourself?

The first thing you have to do on the road to working from home is to put away the notion that it will be impossible to do. Most Americans are addicted to the way things have always been. It is a fact of our culture that we tend to be mistrustful of new ideas and new possibilities for our lives. That kind of thinking must go if you expect the work from home idea to work for you. You have to accept that a new way of doing things can work.

Of course, the freedom of trusting new ideas doesn’t mean that you trust every idea that comes along. There are many scams out there lurking behind the words: “work from home.” The existence of these predators is depressing as well as a tragic commentary on the decay of western culture, but it also is anathema to most honest people’s desire to work from home. The assumption is that because there are scams out there that it is impossible to find the ideas and organizations to support your hope for a home-based job.

Remember the advice just given to break with the addictive thought patterns of your past. You don’t want your tendency to be careful to rob you of your security. That sounds ironic, but it is the fact of too many American lives. There are solid internet advertising companies out there ready to help you work online. If you spend the time to search for them, you will find an online community that is right for you and your desire to have a home-based business.

Finding The Right Webhosting Company For You

Posted in Uncategorized by admin Thursday June 19, 2008 at about 4:01 pm

Free Webhosting:

Firstly, it doesn’t cost you anything, ever. To be honest that’s probably the only benefit that you’ll ever get from free webhosting.
Now for the mountain of drawbacks from free webhosting.

You normally wont be able to have your own domain name, makeagreatsite.com for example. It’s more likely to be something like www.youresitename.freewebhost.com So it wont look very professional at all. People will think, “If he/she doesn’t care enough about his site to pay $50 a year to get his/her own domain name, he/she can’t have anything worth looking at.” $50 a year is an example, but you get the picture. This may also devalue your search engine optimization, as your website is more a subdomain than a standard site, so search engine may degrade your ranking.

Secondly you’ll have ads pop-up on your page or big banner ads, you might think “Great I get paid when people look at them or click on them”, wrong, the free webhosting company gets paid when people click on them, that’s why they can make it free, that’s how they can make their money. This also looks very unprofessional, mostly because the ads could be about anything and are unlikely to be of interest to your specific website visitors.

Thirdly, your bandwidth is extremely limited. If you don’t know what bandwidth is, it basically determines how many people are allowed to go to your site, the bigger the images, downloads and pages etc, the higher the bandwidth useage, the less people can come to your site. Some free webhosting companies give you 100 mega bytes bandwidth, others give you 1000 mega bytes. It’s unlikely you’ll ever get more than that.

So let’s review:
Free webhosting puts banners and/or pop ups on your webpage, you don’t get to choose your own domain name in most cases and you wont be abe to get as many people to your website.
So what does this mean?
It means that if you’re selling a product or service or are expecting a lot of people to your website, then free webhosting is not you.
However, if it’s a personal website where you just want to talk about yourself, or have a photo album on the internet for example, the a free webhost if probably for you. No need to pay for services you wont use.

Paying For Webhosting:

Now here’s where it gets interesting and where your choices really open up. I suggest that you only stick with the paid for webhost that I recommend, as I’ve tried them, spent money with them and used thme for a long time, but I’ll get to specific ones later.

Let’s start with the benefits:

You can have your own domain name i.e. pick whatever you want it to be and if it isn’t already taken, then it’s yours.
You have full control over your website i.e. the look and feel and you can customize anything and everything you like, providing you have the skills to do so.
You can have MANY more people come to your website, as your bandwidth limit will be much higher.
If you have the skills to, you can put a forum up, which will give you’re website users a place to discuss things, most free webshosts don’t allow this.
You can use ftp (File transfer protocol), this might not seem like much, but it makes it a lot easier and quicker to add new files and update or delete old ones. As they say, time is money.
No annoying pop-ups or intrusive ads that have nothing to offer your visitors. Instead you can put your own ads up and rake in all the money. I’ll explain how to do this in the “Make Money From Your Website” section.
You’ll also normally get much better and quicker support. You are paying them after all.

Now for the draw backs:

Obviously, it costs money. However, compared to the amount of money you can potentially make from a website, it’s really not a big deal.
It can also be perhaps a little overwhelming at first, but this soon passes and you get stuck in after a while.

So lets review:

This time as you can see, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. If you intend to be successful and run a business online, or run a website where you wish to make money, looking professional is of upmost importance. Paying for webhosting allows you to do this, because you have more control over the look and feel of your website and you will have a proper domain name.
So if you’re going to run a website that you want to make money from, paying for webhosting is a MUST. There’s no maybe’s about it. You simply have to pay for webhosting if you want to be successful.

Costs:

The above 2 summaries should have helped you decide which type of hosting is for you.
At the end of this article, I’ll recommend a few webhosts which you should take a look at. For now, I want to keep you informed about the costs of running a website with paid for hosting.

A decent webhost company charges about $77. That’s $5 for a new domain name and $72 for the 1 year’s webhosting.

For some people reading this, that might sound like a lot, for others it will be small change. Either way it’s a bargain for what you get. Not to mention that if you follow my advice in the “Make Money From Your Website” section of my website, you can potentially make more than that in a month, then the rest of the year you’re in profit.

Be Taught About the Astounding Windsor Castle

Posted in Uncategorized by admin Wednesday June 18, 2008 at about 10:03 am

Windsor Castle is the biggest populated castles in the world & the oldest in nonstop occupation (over nine hundred years). It is 1 of the Queen’s 3 authorised residences, and is repeatedly beloved to be the Queens favourite. The Royal colours flies above the Round Tower of Windsor Castle as soon as the Queen is at the palace – however, at other occasions, the Union Jack banner flies in its place.

Samuel Pepys announce the Castle to be “the most romantic castle around.” That was in sixteen-sixty-six and the comparable is true today.

Windsor Castle Long History:

The launch of Windsor were in the early seventh century Saxon settlement of Windlesora, where the current day parish of Old Windsor can be located. The town of Windsor is properly well-known as “New Windsor” – the actual phrase “new” being used in a strictly loose way!

Windsor Castle at the outset was built by the notorious William the Conqueror, as a result of his raid of England in ten-sixty-six. The original construction was erected from timber with earth walls. Palace held an obvious tactical position on a big hill overlooking the River Thames, and was one part of a circle of fortresses surrounding the Capital, with the Tower of London, one whole days journey away, at its hub.

The Castle was soon after reconstructed in rock, and increased in value over the following centuries. In recent times Henry the 2nd built the Round Tower and the original stone outer wall. After the English Civil War, the building’s main function became that of a royal palace. The Castle has stayed totally unchanged ever since the start of the nineteenth century, apart from the overhaul job that followed the horribly fire in 1992.
